Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840
Obverse: The head of Queen Victoria wearing a diadem and with hair tied in a knot. Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA 1848'. On truncation: 'W. WYON'. Reverse: Britannia seated on a sea horse, a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Exergue: 'W. WYON R.A.' Inscription on bars: '1 JUNE 1794', 'SOUTHAMPTON 9 JUNE 1796', 'ST VINCENT'. Inscription on edge: 'JAMES DALLIMORE.' The medal is suspended by a plain silver clasp from a white ribbon edged with blue. Only eight clasps were awarded for the capture of 'Utile' by 'Southampton' on 9 June 1796.
