Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840
Obverse: The head of Queen Victoria wearing a diadem and with hair tied in a knot. Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA 1848'. On truncation: 'W. WYON R.A.' Reverse: Britannia seated on a sea horse, a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Exergue: 'W. WYON R.A.' Inscription on the edge: 'GEORGE SALVEDORE'. Inscription on the bars: '14 MARCH 1795', 'LOWESTOFFE 24 JUNE 1795', 'SCORPION 31 MARCH 1804'. The medal is suspended by a plain silver clasp from a white ribbon edged with blue. There are only six known clasps '24th June 1795 Lowestoft' and four known clasps '31st March 1804 Scorpion' to the Naval General Service Medal.
