Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840

Obverse: The head of Queen Victoria wearing a diadem and with hair tied in a knot. Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA 1848'. On truncation: 'W. WYON R.A.' Reverse: Britannia seated on a sea horse, a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Exergue: 'W. WYON R.A.' Inscription on edge: 'JOHN REEDIN.' Inscription on bars: 'PHOEBE 21 DECR 1797', 'PHOEBE 19 FEBY 1801', 'TRAFALGAR'. The medal is suspended by a plain silver clasp from a white ribbon edged with blue. There are only five known clasps '21st December 1797 Phoebe' and only six known clasps '19th February 1801 Phoebe' to the Naval General Service Medal.
