Naval Gold Medal (Captain's) for The Battle of San Domingo 1806
Captain's Naval Gold Medal for San Domingo awarded to Captain Edward Berry (1768-1831). Obverse: Britannia, a spear in her left hand and a shield below, standing on the deck of an antique galley, her right foot resting on a helmet, crowned with a wreath by a winged victory. Reverse inscription: 'SIR EDWARD BERRY KNT: CAPTAIN OF H.M.S. AGAMEMNON + ON THE 6 OF FEBRUARY + MDCCCVI THE FRENCH SQUADRON CAPTURED AND DESTROYED'. It is fitted with a watch glass on the reverse, and a gold rim fitted with a loop, ring and bar (the ribbon is missing).
