Thomas William Wimble (1867-1934) joined the Royal Navy on 28 November 1888. He held the ranks of Engine Room Artificer, 2nd Class and Chief Engine Room Artificer. As a crew member of HMS 'Satellite' he was awarded the East and West Africa Medal 1894 for his part in the punitive expedition against the slave raider Fodi Silah in the Gambia. During the First World War, he served on torpedo school vessel HMS 'Actaeon' and HMS 'Brilliant' which served as a guardship on the Tyne and later as a depot ship for the Auxiliary Patrol at Lerwick, Shetland. He was demobilised in 1919 and died at Chatham in 1934.
