1914-15 Star
A uniface star of four points, the upper covered by a crown, with two crossed swords entwined by a short scroll. Inscription: '1914-15.' An oak garland superimposed upon the whole. Inscription: 'G' with a 'V' within it. Fitted with a ring and red, white and blue watered-silk ribbon. Reverse inscription: 'K.P-767 A.H.DUKE, A.B., R.N.V.R'.
Albert Henry Duke (1890-1915) was an able seaman, RNVR and died on 25 April 1915 whilst serving with the Anson Battalion, RN Division during the Gallipoli landings. He was buried at sea. Son of a coal miner of Kimberworth, Rotherham also called Albert Duke, Albert Henry was a crane driver before the war.
