Victory Medal 1914-18
Obverse: Winged Victory standing (front), a palm branch in her right hand, her left arm outstretched. Reverse: Within a laurel garland, Inscription: 'THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION. 1914-1919'. Inscription on edge: 'K.P-767 A.H. DUKE, A.B., R.N.V.R'. Fitted with a ring and watered silk ribbon of rainbow hues.
Albert Henry Duke (1890-1915) was an able seaman, RNVR and died on 25 April 1915 whilst serving with the Anson Battalion, RN Division during the Gallipoli landings. He was buried at sea. Son of a coal miner of Kimberworth, Rotherham also called Albert Duke, Albert Henry was a crane driver before the war.
