Badge: Order of the Bath, 3rd class
Badge: Obverse and reverse. Gold Maltese cross of eight points enamelled white, each point tipped with a small gold ball, and in each angle between the arms of the cross a gold lion. In the centre of the cross is a device, consisting of a rose, thistle and shamrock issuing from a sceptre, and three Imperial crowns, surrounded by a red enamel scroll inscribed in gold. Motto: 'TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO'. Scroll: 'ICH DEIN'. Suspended by a loop and ring from a crimson neck ribbon fastened with a hook. Not hallmarked. Awarded to Vice-Adm Sir Alfred Evans.
Alfred Englefield Evans (1884-1944) was a successful cricketer and Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy. He fought during the first world war and at the Battle of Jutland. He was appointed a Companion of the Bath in the 1937 Coronation Honours and was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1943.
