Distinguished Service Order 1910-36
Distinguished Service Order awarded to Captain Ronald Neil Stuart VC, RNR (1886-1954) and gazetted 23 March 1917. Stuart was serving on the Q-ship ‘Farnborough’ and was awarded the DSO after the sinking of ‘U-83’ off the south west coast of Ireland on 17 February 1917.
The medal is an enamelled white cross edged in gold with a green central wreath containing the Imperial Crown in gold on a red background. On the reverse is the Royal Cypher within a green wreath on a red background. The ribbon has a wide central stripe of red edged with narrower stripes of blue.
