Distinguished Service Order 1910-36
Distinguished Service Order awarded to Commander John William Scott. The citation was published in the ‘London Gazette’ 18 April 1918, ‘For valuable services in command of the units landed from HMS ‘Cochrane’ for the defence of Pechenga (50 miles west of Murmansk) from 3 May 1918 to the 29 September. During this period the force was frequently attacked by the enemy’.
The medal is an enamelled white cross edged in gold with a green central wreath containing the Imperial Crown in gold on a red background. On the reverse is the Royal Cypher within a green wreath on a red background. The ribbon has a wide central stripe of red edged with narrower stripes of blue. It is mounted on a bar with four others: China War Medal 1900 (MED1334), 1914-15 Star (MED1335), British War Medal (MED1336) and Victory Medal (MED1337).
