Mug
Creamware mug, transfer-printed and hand-coloured with a caricature of Napoleon holding an orb and sceptre and wearing a hugh hat. He is seated on a bear held by collar and chain amid a number of bystanders. The mug is inscribed in black: 'IOHN BULL SHEWING THE CORSICAN MONKEY', 'My Friends and Neighbours this is no monkey of the Common Order, he is a very cholerick little gentleman I assure you he is very fond of playing with globes and scepters, so I let him have one of each made of Gingerbread to amuse him in a Strange Country'. A red line is painted around the rim.
