Captain Robert Faulknor (?), 1763 - 95
Oval miniature in watercolour, in an oval gilt metal suspension locket, with plaited hair in the glazed back: the plait includes two locks of fair hair, the rest being brown with the later presumably being the sitter's. His eyes are brown and his hair receding, long and powdered. He is shown head and shoulders turned slightly to his right but with his head sharply turned left to look out of the picture to viewer's right. He wears a blue coat with regularly spaced gold-braided buttonholes which appears to be the commander's 1774-pattern undress uniform, though there should be a further button on the collar. A peak of rock is seen to th left, over his right shoulder, with the rest of the background being stormy sky.
