Plate
Creamware plate transfer-printed in black with a scene of a sailor's farewell, the sailor in striped trousers and waistcoat holding a stick, while his girl weeps into a handkerchief. In the background is his ship, with a cherub perched aloft and a castle on the shore. Inscribed above 'POOR JACK'. The title refers to a song by Charles Dibdin. The image is based on an updated version of print PAF4028 with the sailor in trousers instead of the original slop hose, and the girl in a high waisted dress. Six flower sprays are printed around the rim of the plate.
