Jug

Creamware jug, transfer-printed in black. On one side a farewell scene: the officer wearing a cocked hat, coat with lapels opened and striped trousers, holding his lady's hand while a servant attends to his baggage on the quayside, with a ship in the background. The picture is within a cartouche surmounted by doves and hearts with arrows. On the other side, a standard print depicting a port broadside view of a ship under sail, with trophies shown below the sea.
