'Hezzanith' Artificial Horizon
The artificial horizon consists of a threaded brass telescope with an erect image, and one crosswire, which is to be shipped in a sextant telescope bracket. Halfway along the telescope tube is a balanced lever that indicates when the instrument is held in the horizontal plane. A separate oil lamp is provided for illumination at night.
The artificial horizon is contained in a rectangular fitted wooden box with a sliding lid, with a label in the lid for the Patent Hezzanith Artificial Horizon.
George Wilson Heath patented this artificial horizon (no. 6475 of 1896).
