Binoculars

Prismatic binoculars with a leather-covered body, eye cups made of bakelite and a leather carrying strap. The two barrels pivot around a central pilar, but there is no central focussing. Instead, each eyepiece focusses independently. The maker's name is inscribed on one barrel, as is an inscription recording the fact that the binoculars were given to W. Bourchier Wrey, RN, by his wife in 1901. The leather carrying case also has Bourchier's name inscribed on the lid.
