Binoculars
A pair of right-angled prismatic binoculars, set in a U-shaped bracket on an Air Ministry tripod. This allows the heavy binoculars to be tilted and rotated. There is also a cover for the objective lenses, as well as stoppers for the eyepieces. The binoculars are said to have been salvaged from the German battleship 'Tirpitz' by a Norwegian diving crew. Sold to a dealer and then to a Naval Officer who passed them on to the donor. When given to the Museum, they were mounted on an Air Ministry tripod.
