Magnetic dial
Magnetic dial for latitude 45° North. This dial is set under a domed plastic cover and mounted on a round wooden case with a push-fit lid. The angular metal gnomon stands over coloured card. The outer ring of the dial is graduated with eight wind names in Latin and the inner circle is marked with hour-lines radiating from a central point at the base of the gnomon. There is no adjustment for magnetic variation. The lid of the instrument is chipped and slightly cracked.
