Mariner's compass card
Wooden box, no bowl. Graduated in 1/4 points, NW-NE 45- 0-45 degrees, SE -SW 45-0-45 degrees. A lubber's point of thread is fitted; this is stretched on a brass frame which may be moved in a groove to act as card brake. The needle is a flat iron bar type, pointed at both ends. The pivot fits into an agate cap.
