Copper bowl dia. 7.5" (190cm), wooden box 11.5 x 11.5 x 5.5" (20.2 x 20.2 x 5.5cm) & carrying case. Patent No4996 -1824/Patent No8248-1839 Graduation card in 1/2 points, outer ring quadrantal in 30'. Hung on gimbals for use aboard ship, but has carrying case for making magnetic and other observations ashore, for which purpose an extra vertical circle is fitted, graduated to 30' and reading by vernier in minutes. A further equatorial circle is divided into hours and minutes for use as a sun dial. East point is ornamented.
