Pine box with key. Brass lid to compass bowl. Two detachable sights (fine thread and slit type). Lead plumb bob. Oak tripod. Height 53" (134.5cm) compass graduated every four points into 90 1/2 degrees also in degrees 0-360. Bare needle marked "N" and "S" fitted with a stop. Bowl fitted with a turned brass lid. Mounted on a ball and socket with screw. Legs in two pieces which screw together. Steel tipped. Brass ring for suspension of plumb bob.
