Dry card compass

Bowl-Copper, glazed. Inside of bowl painted white with a black painted lubber line on side. A lead balancing weight is secured in base, through the centre of which a brass pivot stem is secured. Mounted in abrass gimbal ring. Dia. 7" (17.8cm)
Card-Dia. 5.3" (13.5cm) Mica covered with paper, centre black with white markings, outer rim white with black markings. Graduated quadrantally in degrees and to 32 points with a decorated West point.
Needle-Flat bar type 5" (12.7cm) long with round ends and expanded centre to accommodate pivot cup is attached to underside of card.
Pivot-Brass pivot stem 1.5" (3.8cm) long attached to base of bowl. A conical brass jewelled pivot cup is secured at centre of card and expanded centre of needle.
