Vertical scale graduated quadrantally 0-90 in tenths, 0 being horizontal. Revolving horizontal scale round base is graduated to 360 in tenths and is fitted with a locking knob. Vertical scale and needle are protected by two hinged glass face plates. Bubble level on base of instrument. Stand is fitted with three levelling screws.
