Mug
Three-handled mug, a later copy of Nelson's oak leaf service pattern. Painted on one side with the coat of arms of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with supporters and coronet but no crests. The shield is within the motto 'TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO' (three joined in one), Nelson's personal motto is incorrectly inscribed on a ribbon below 'PALMAM OUT MERUIT FERAT'. There are borders of oak leaves and acorns top and bottom, and on the top border two blue swags with gilt inscriptions 'Nelson', 'San Josef' and 'Nelson', '22 April' (the date of the battle of Copenhagen 2 April).
