Xenon lamp

Glass with metal fittings. Fitted zipped canvas cover and two wire leads.
Note from Research and Development section 17 August 1962:
The lighting equipment which provided the main navigational light at Dungeness comprises two 500 mm drum lenses in a biform arrangement; each lens having a 2 KW Xenon arc discharge lamp at its focus. A character of 1.3 seconds flash every 10 seconds, at a listed intensity of 300,000 candles, is obtained by switching the lamp on for the duration of each flash. The lamp operates at a vltage of 25 volts and a current of 80 amperes. It has a quartz evelope and is filled with Xenon gas to a cold pressure of 4 atmospheres.
