Mug
Small mug, a later copy of the oak leaf service pattern associated with Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). Painted opposite the handle with his coat of arms within the motto 'TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO' (three joined in one), his personal motto inscribed incorrectly on a ribbon below 'PALMAM OUT MERUIT FERAT'. It is surmounted by his Viscount's coronet but not his crests. There is a border top and bottom of oak leaves and acorns. On the top rim there are two blue swags inscribed 'Nelson', 'San Josef' and 'Nelson', '22 April' (the date of the battle of Copenhagen 2 April).
