Portable Electrometer No.51
Instrument body-Cylindrical alloy container. One irregular shaped opening and three rectangular openings are cut from the sides revealing an inner glass liner and affording a view of the electronic mechanism within. The container rests on three small brass feet.
Fittings-Micrometer screw head with 100 divisions, marked every 10 divisions from 0-90 and fitted with clamping device. Hollow tube projecting 1.25" (3.1cm) above top of instrument and protected by conical hood. Two brass strips to hold "drying record" slip. Two key-operated securing nipples. Sliding magnifier attached to underside of body for viewing "cats whisker" indicator.
Fitted mahogany box 5.25 x 4.5 x 6.6" (13.4 x 11.4 x 16.9cm) containing two spare brass discs, three rolled paper rods, one glass-insulated rod, and one threaded brass glass-filled tube.
