Thermometer
Thermometer with a white paper scale graduated from 40° to 110° C. Contained in a brass tube 13.25" long. Fitted with a D ring at top, perforated base section and a rotating sleeve to cover thermometer. a label on this thermometer states that it was taken off the German light cruiser SMS Emden in 1914 when she was run aground by HMS Sydney in the Indian Ocean. The thermometer was then given to Izme Vickers, daughter of Albert Vickers, the head of the well-known armaments firm.
