Saucer

Saucer, part of a tea service reputedly belonging to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) although this is unlikely. Pieces of this service were left by Hilaire, Countess Nelson to her nephew. The saucer has a fluted edge and decorative gold rim. It is painted with small sprigs of flowers and leaves with a border of three gold lines interwoven with a continuous blue riband. The maker's mark is painted on the base. There are five similar saucers in the museum's collections AAA4637-AAA4641.
