Marked 'K5' (Hydrographic Office number).
Telescope-14.5" (36.8cm) long, O.G. dia. 2" (5cm). Erect (complete with cross wires and O.G. lens cap). Milled knob on main tube for focussing at O.G. end. A spirit level in brass casing 8.7" (22cm) long is attached to underside of telescope.
Stand-The telescope is mounted on a stand 11.75" (29.9cm) long by two "Y" mounts, one of which is fitted with a capstand headed levelling screw. A tripod socket head, fitted with four levelling screws and a horizontally mounted slow motion screw for movement in azimuth, is attached to a spigot at centre of underside of stand.
Compass-Dia. 4.5" (11.4cm) mounted in centre of stand. Fitted with a steel edge bar needle, pointed at each end, 3.25" (8.2cm) long, with a jewelled pivot cap at centre. Graduated to 8 points and anti-clockwise to 360 degs. Fitted with a needle lifting mechanism operated by a knob at side of bowl.
In fitted wooden box, containing a brass plumb bob and line.
