A frame telescopic

Base-Dia. 4.5" (11.4cm) graduated to 360 by 1 with a vernier scale 0-60. Fitted with a milled knob to turn instrument in azimuth. A spirit level 2" (5.1cm) long mounted E-W. A tripod mounting socket with four levelling screws, fitted in box, fits in a conical mount at centre of underside of base.
Compass-Dia. 2.75" (7cm) mounted at centre of base. Fitted with a steel edge bar needle 2" (5.1cm) long, with a jewelled pivot cap at centre. A needle lifting mechanism is fitted which is operated by a brass stud at side of bowl. Graduated to 8 points and anti-clockwise to 360 degs.
Vertical arc-Radius 2.15" (5.3cm) mounted above base at apex of one of the two "A" frame brackets 3" (7.6cm) high. Graduated 90-0-90 by 1degree with a vernier scale 30-0-30. Fitted with a milled knob to move arc in azimuth by rack teeth cut in edge.
Telescope-Length 11.75" (29.9cm) erect (cross wires broken) O.G. dia. 0.8" (2.2cm). Sliding focus at O.G. end. A spirit level 2.75" (7cm) long is mounted at top of telescope. Carried in two "Y" mounts on a rectangular frame attached on one side to the vertical arc and on the other to the "A" frame.
In fitted wooden box 8 x 5.5 x 7.5" (20.3 x 14 x 19cm) containing a screwdriver, tripod mounting socket and eyepiece tube of telescope.
