A frame transit
Base-Dia. 4.75" (12.1cm) graduated to 360 degs by 30' with two vernier scales 0-30. each with a magnifier on a swinging arm. Fitted with slow-motion screw and clamp screw. Two spirit levels, one 2.5" (6.4cm) long , the other 1.5" (3.8cm) long mounted on base. Base supported on avertical pillar which carries a mounting shoe for a "trough" compass, a slow-motion azimuth screw and clamp and a tripod mounting socket with four levelling screws.
Vertical circle-Diameter 4.5" (11.4cm) mounted above base on two "A" frame brackets 3.75" (9.5cm) high. Graduated quadrantally in degrees by 30' with two vernier scales 0-30 each with a magnifier on swinging arm. A slow-motion screw and clamp operate on the "circle" and one "A" frame. A spirit level 2.75" long is mounted on a frame close to the "circle", fitted with a slow-motion screw and clamp and which operates on the above "A" frame.
Telescope-Length 7.25" (18.4cm) erect with (cross wires missing). O.G. dia 1" (2.5cm). Milled knob at centre for focus at O.G. end. Integral with circle and is mounted on top of "A" frame.
In fitted wooden box 11.75 x 6.75 x 6.75" (29.9 x 17.1 x 17.1cm) containing 1 eyepiece, one eyepiece cap, one eyepiece disc with three dark shades, one annular reflector, one extension tube, one key (double -ended), one oil botle. one Trough compass and one wooden cap for tripod.
