Basin
Slop basin, part of a tea service reputedly belonging to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) although this is unlikely. Pieces of this service were left by Hilaire, Countess Nelson to her nephew. The moulded porcelain basin is painted with small coloured sprigs of flowers and leaves and has a decorative gold rim. Near the top, three gold lines are interwoven with a continuous blue riband. A small flower sprig is painted inside. The maker's mark is painted on the base.
