Pocket telescope
The barrel of this non-achromatic telescope is covered in parchment, which has been decorated with tooled motifs. There are three white draw tubes, each of which has black stop lines drawn onto it to indicate the optimum working length of the telescope. The lens mounts are of turned ebony and there are brass sliding-covers for the eyepiece and objective lenses.
The relatively short length of this telescope when in use (about 750 mm) suggests that it was intended for terrestrial use.
