Spyglass telescope
This is a spyglass or miniature telescope. It is very well made, but was meant as a fashionable personal accessory that could fit in one's pocket rather than as a serious telescope.
The barrel is made of turned lignum vitae and the lenses are set in ivory mounts. It has a turned wooden case (also lignum vitae) that has been made to fit the telescope exactly.
