Pocket telescope
This achromatic telescope with a wooden barrel and three brass draw tubes. The brass fittings include an objective lens cap and a pivoted eyepiece cover. Its original wooden case, which is covered with red leather, still survives, although the end of the case is now missing.
The maker's name is inscribed on the smallest draw tube as ‘Dollond / London’. Two of the draw tubes also have 'IV' roughly inscribed on them. Presumably this was done during the manufacturing process to ensure that the parts were assembled correctly.
