Pocket telescope
This telescope has a balleen-covered barrel and seven brass draw tubes. The brass fittings include a sliding eyepiece cover and objective lens cap. Its original leather case also survives.
The maker's name and address are inscribed on the smallest draw tube 'W.E. & F. Newton, / Opticians, 3, Fleet St., Temple Bar, / London'. There are also some roughly inscribed marks on hidden areas of the draw tubes, presumably made during the manufacturing process.
