Pail

Ice pail, part of a service belonging to Nelson's brother, the Reverend William Nelson (1747-1835), later 1st Earl Nelson. It is in two sections with handles and a lid with a gilded knob in the shape of a pine cone. The base and lid are painted with Greek key pattern borders in two shades of red with gilt rims. The lower two sections are decorated with an Earl's coronet, Nelson's chelengk and 'SAN JOSEF' crests with his motto 'FAITH AND WORKS'. One of a pair AAA4659-AAA4660.
