Officer of the Watch telescope
This achromatic navigational telescope has a leather-covered barrel and silvered-brass fittings, including a single draw tube, a sliding sunshade and a pivoted eyepiece cover. The objective lens cap is missing.
An inscription on the sunshade records the gift of the telescope to 'L. Donaldson R.N. / from / Admiral Vansittart, C.B. / 1890’. There are also rough maker's marks on the draw tube, possibly the numeral ‘X’.
