Pot with cover

A porcelain, flat-backed crocus pot marked AAA4739.1, with a separate cover marked AAA4739.2 comprising of five flower holders. The front panel is painted with a view of the Battle of the Nile inscribed below 'ADM. NELSON'S GLORYOUS VICTORY/OVER THE FRENCH FLEET ON THE NILE./AUGUST 1. 1798'. The side panels are painted with coloured trophies of arms and flags (including the pre-1801 Red Ensign and Union Flag). There is gilded decoration overall with moulded shells and rings between the panels. The pot has five supports inside to hold the cover and rests on four feet.
