Jug
Creamware jug, printed in black with an oval transfer, a naval crown above, depicting a standing figure of Rear-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) on the deck of his ship, holding a sword in his left hand with other ships in the background. Inscribed 'BARON NELSON/of the Nile and of Burnham Thorpe in the County of Norfolk.' Below 'Nelson thy Name from shore to shore shall ring/Joy to the Nation joy to Englands King/Such prowess ev'ry tribute justly craves/E'en Arabs shout Britannia rule the waves.' On the other side of the jug, a print of a pastoral scene with lovers seated beneath a tree. They are unaware of the approach of an elderly gentleman (presumably her father), who is climbing over a fence, brandishing a stick.
