Jug

A thickly potted jug with transfer-printed stipple engravings. On one side an oval medallion portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), shown in uniform with naval trophies below and a laurel spray above. Inscribed above the portrait: 'ADMIRAL LORD NELSON'. On oval discs on either side 'TRAFALGAR 1805', 'NILE 1798', 'COP.' On the other side, an oval engraving of a warship, 'THE VICTORY' on her stern, shown in action with naval trophies below. Hand-painted below the lip, the inscription 'J & C Day 1806'. The jug has hand-painted key pattern borders.
