Mug

Creamware mug, with silver lustre bands top and bottom and four small lustre sprays. Opposite the handle, transfer-printed in purple, a portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805); inscribed above 'England expects every Man to do his duty', and below 'ADMIRAL LORD NELSON Born Septr 29 1758 - Died Octr 21 1805 Aged 47'. On either side of the portrait is a masonic coat of arms. The image of Nelson is based on the engraving by J. Chapman, published in December 1798 (see PAD3884).
