Mug
Creamware mug transfer-printed in black, with a portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), inscribed: 'England Expects every Man to do his Duty', 'ADMIRAL LORD NELSON/Born Septr 29th 1758-Died Octr 21st 1805/Aged 47'. The mug has a black hand-painted band and a line of dots at the rim; the handle is edged with black. The image of Nelson is based on the engraving by J. Chapman, published in December 1798 (see PAD3884).
