Naval telescope
Achromatic telescope with a tapering, leather-covered barrel and brass fittings, including a pivoted eyepiece cover, an objective lens cap and a sliding sun shade. The instrument has a single draw tube and a second variable focus eyepiece tube, with three engraved lines, marked 25, 30 and 35 respectively. The maker's name is inscribed on the draw tube as the words 'CS EDWARD WILSHAW CABLE & WIRELESS LTD'. The 'Edward Wilshaw' was the largest of the cable repair fleet owned by Cable & Wireless.
