Contract for Lowestoffe (1761); Specification for Alarm class (1757)
An incomplete handwritten 76 page contract for Lowestoffe (1761), a 32-gun Fifth Rate Frigate, between the Admiralty and Mr Thomas West of Deptford in the County of Kent. Pages missing for the signature and date of signing.
Note that the dimensions in black ink in this contract were copied from one of the Alarm class of 1757 (32-gun Fifth Rate Frigates), possibly the Aeolus (1758), which was built at Deptford by Mr. Wells. These were then amended and corrected in red ink for the contract for Lowestoffe (1761).
