Model of a liner with four funnels painted with orange and black bands. Details of the ship are picked out in gilt. On her bow: ‘THE LUSITANIA’. The arms of Blackpool are printed in colour on the side of the ship; on a ribbon the motto: ‘PROGRESS’, below ‘BLACKPOOL’. On the side of the stern ‘THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 THE GERMAN FLEET SURRENDERED 74 WARSHIPS NOV. 21ST 1918’. On the back of the model: ‘SUNK BY GERMAN SUBMARINE OFF THE IRISH COAST MAY 7TH 1917 LIVES LOST 1275 SAVED 703’. The maker's mark is printed on the base: ‘W & R. STOKE-ON-TRENT CARLTON CHINA’.
