Jug

Earthenware jug, transfer-printed in blue. On one side, an oval portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) inscribed 'ADMIRAL VISCOUNT LORD NELSON', 'England expects every man will do his duty', on the other side 'HMS Victory' under sail, named on her stern 'THE VICTORY'. Below the lip of the jug is a vignette of a gun, shot and rammer on the shore, seaweed in the foreground and a bush behind. There is a decorative border around both the inside and the outside of the neck and a floral transfer on the handle.
