Jug

Earthenware jug, brown-glazed with a white interior and transfer-printed in yellow with a chinoiserie design of pagodas and a river scene. It is patterned on the neck, the inner rim and the handle. Under the lip, a circular portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) surrounded by the inscription 'ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN TO DO HIS DUTY ADML LD. NELSON'.
