Jug
Brown glazed earthenware jug, transfer-printed in yellow with a chinoiserie design of pagodas and a river scene. It is patterned on the neck, the inner rim and the handle. Under the lip, a circular portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with trophies behind, and ships in battle below. Inscribed around the portrait 'ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN TO DO HIS DUTY NELSON' and on a ribbon below 'TRAFALGAR, VICTORY, NILE'.
